St Edmund Hall, Lecture Room

Client: St Edmund Hall, Oxford
Architect: Montgomery Architects
Contractor: Knowless & Son
Value: £0.72M

Structural Form

A lightweight steel framed structure built on top of the pre-cast concrete kitchen roof. Strong points were located in the existing structure and loads from the new Lecture Hall were transferred to these points using a steel grillage.

Comments

The College extended our appointment to design another vertical extension on top of the SCR in-situ concrete roof to house tutorial rooms; the structure for this building utilised lightweight cold-formed steel sections seated on a steel transfer grillage.
